Live Commentary for AFC Wimbledon Home Games on Riverside Radio

AFC Wimbledon fans will now be able to enjoy live commentary of home games on Riverside Radio, building on the station's decade-long sports coverage. The new service starts on August 22nd, when the Dons face Reading in League One.

Riverside Radio will broadcast live commentary of all AFC Wimbledon home games throughout the 2026/27 season. This new service builds on over a decade of Riverside Radio’s sports coverage, which includes reporting on AFC Wimbledon and other local sports in Richmond, Wandsworth, Merton and Lambeth.

The station recently expanded its sports output, including its first inside coverage from The Championships, Wimbledon, where it explored the tournament’s history and community role.

Riverside Radio’s first full AFC Wimbledon commentary will take place on Saturday 22nd August, when the Dons face Reading in League One. The broadcast will be part of the Riverside Radio Sports Show, airing every Saturday from 2pm to 6pm, and will also feature updates on other local fixtures, results and interviews.

Sports Editor Ben Heys and Managing Director Jason Rosam will lead the commentary team for the opening match. Ben said the new partnership will help bring fans closer to the action and provide opportunities for emerging sports broadcasters to gain experience.

The station says it is supporting local sport while offering a platform for aspiring commentators, reporters and producers to develop their skills.
