AFC Wimbledon were comprehensively beaten 4-1 by Burton Albion in a League One match on Wednesday night. The Dons, now 18th in the table with four points from four games, conceded three times after Jayden Stockley's first-half equaliser at the Pirelli Stadium.

Burton made the early running, but it was Wimbledon who struck first. In the 18th minute, a right-wing cross from James Tilley found Jayden Stockley, who netted his first League goal for the club. The lead was short-lived. George Evans levelled for the hosts with a free-kick after Caylan Vickers was brought down outside the box.

The turning point came in the 34th minute. Sulyman Krubally crossed to Kyran Lofthouse, whose low delivery was turned into his own net by Alistair Smith, putting Burton 2-1 up at the break. The second half started disastrously for the visitors. Just eighteen seconds after the restart, Kyran Lofthouse set up Charlie Webster to score from the edge of the box, extending Burton's lead.

Goalkeeper Joe McDonnell could do little about the fourth goal. In the 76th minute, deadline-day signing Caylan Vickers marked his debut by converting a cross from Sulyman Krubally. The result leaves Wimbledon with a goal difference of minus five, having scored just two and conceded seven this season. They are already six points behind early leaders Huddersfield Town.

The heavy defeat compounds a difficult start to the campaign for AFC Wimbledon. Their recent form reads Loss, Win, Draw, Loss from their opening four fixtures. Fans can check the evolving standings as the season progresses. This loss pushes the Dons down into the lower reaches of the division.

Attention now turns to the next fixture, an away trip to face Bromley on Monday, September 7th. Bromley currently sit 19th in the table, making it a significant early-season encounter for both sides. The full run of upcoming matches is available on our fixtures page. Managerial focus will be on shoring up a defence that has been breached too frequently.

Preparations for the Bromley game will begin immediately, with the squad needing to respond positively to this setback. The team's current statistics and player data can be reviewed on our dedicated stats section. The final whistle at the Pirelli Stadium confirmed a night to forget, with the long journey home giving plenty to ponder before the next challenge.
