AFC Wimbledon stopped the rot with a battling 1-1 draw against Wycombe Wanderers. The point at the Cherry Red Records Stadium on Saturday ended a damaging sequence of four straight league defeats and offered a platform for recovery. The result on Saturday 24 October leaves the team 16th in League One with 13 points from 12 games, having recorded three wins and four draws against five losses.

Jayden Stockley headed the Dons into a 29th-minute lead, meeting a James Tilley cross to score his fifth goal of the season. Wycombe responded on the hour mark, Fred Onyedinma finishing from close range after a Jayden Wareham assist to level the contest.

Manager Johnnie Jackson told reporters the result was probably a fair one. He said the team's effort and resilience were miles improved from the heavy losses to Sheffield Wednesday and Mansfield Town that preceded it. The 5-0 defeat at Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday 17 October and the 3-0 home loss to Mansfield Town on Tuesday 20 October were part of a recent run of zero wins, two draws and three losses. Jackson's message to the group focused on running, fighting and winning duels before any discussion of shape or tactics.

The draw leaves AFC Wimbledon 16th in the League One standings, with 13 points from their opening 12 matches. Their season tally stands at eight goals scored and 19 conceded, giving them a goal difference of minus eleven. They now sit 12 points behind the league leaders, Huddersfield. Stockley's opener was a welcome return to scoring for the side's top marksman, who now has five for the campaign.

Next up is a tough trip to face second-placed Stockport County on Saturday 31 October. Jackson will hope the grit shown against Wycombe provides a foundation for that challenge.
