AFC Wimbledon are pleased to announce that Dan Williams has joined the Club as our new Head of Sports Science. Williams has spent his career working within high-performance football environments, with experience at Tottenham Hotspur, Leicester City, and Aston Villa. During that time, he worked across the whole development pathway from academy age groups through to first-team players, most recently leading the sports science provision for Aston Villa’s Under-21s.
Speaking after joining the Club, Williams said: “I’m really excited to be joining AFC Wimbledon and to lead the sports science provision for the first-team. I’ve been fortunate to gain experience in some excellent environments throughout my career and I’m looking forward to bringing that experience, along with plenty of energy, to the role. “For me, it’s about working closely with the staff and players to create an environment that helps the players stay fit and ultimately perform at their best on the pitch. “I’ve already really enjoyed getting to know everyone at the Club and I’m looking forward to contributing in any way I can to what we all hope will be a successful season.”
Director of Football, Craig Cope, added: “We’re pleased to welcome Dan to the Club. We ran a thorough recruitment process which saw a really high calibre of candidates apply for the role. Through numerous interviews and tasks we felt Dan demonstrated an excellent proficiency for his discipline as well as a real desire and commitment to Wimbledon. “I’d like to thank our very own highly talented Josh Jardine who has taken the lead on the department over preseason as well as vastly experienced Dave Carolan for helping us out in Spain.”
